You can visit SEIN’s clinics for more extensive investigation and prolonged observation. SEIN has two clinics, one in Heemstede and one in Zwolle.
The clinics have observation units for children and adolescents, for adults and for people who have an intellectual disability or need extra support. This is also where EEG recordings are taken and where the Childhood Epilepsy Centre and the Sleep Centres are located.
The reason for your admission
SEIN operates on a multidisciplinary basis. This means that various specialists collaborate in order to arrive at a sound diagnosis and determine the right treatment for you. The reason for your admission can be:
- A change in the frequency or type of seizures
- Personalisation or modification of epilepsy medication
- Screening or epilepsy surgery is possible if medication is insufficiently effective
- Psychosocial problems associated with epilepsy
- Suspicion of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES)
- Initiation of a ketogenic diet for children
Your admission
We receive your admission request via your neurologist or doctor. We then call you to arrange a date for your admission. This may sometimes take a while because there is a waiting list. As far as possible, we endeavour to take your wishes into account when fixing the date of your admission.
Prior to admission you will receive a practical and useful information sheet about your admission and how best to prepare for it. If you would like more information about your admission, telephone either the Zwolle or Heemstede clinic.
